E-MAILS!
The plural of e-mail is e-mail!!!! Why? The plural of electronic mail is electronic mail, not electronic mails! If you just have to say that 's' for a plural -- you could say "e-mail messages." I don't hear too many people saying "I have to check my voice mails." Why would you say e-mails? Unless you're going to the mail box or post office to get your mails, stop saying and writing e-mails!!!

What's Wrong With the Phone?
BriHope Associates, Inc. - Contact Us
Let's say I have some information for you regarding a project we're working on or I have some questions. So, I call you, right in the middle of some task that you've been trying to get done all day. You have to get pen and paper in hand and attempt at writing down the information or questions, write them down correctly, and then find the paper at a later time so you can reply with the appropriate response as much of the information requires research. Wouldn't it be easier if someone would be there listening and writing all of this information down for you? And if you ignore my phone call because you're too busy and I leave a message in voice-mail, you still have to write the information down and hope that you can hear me correctly.
What if you call me with questions or information that I need? I have to scurry for pen and paper, write down what you're telling me, and hope I can read the writing later.
So maybe you want to write down a response and stick it in the fax machine. I get it on my end and can barely read the fuzzy handwriting and have to call you to tell me what it says. This sure isn't a very efficient means of communication!
What would make all of this easier and more accurate? It's called ELECTRONIC MAIL!!! That's right, e-mail is the best way to communicate in business. The message I send you is easily read, is always there when you need it, and you can respond to it at your convenience. You can continue working on your current task until you get to a good break point. And you will always have a written record of the correspondence.
So stop calling and start writing. It will save both you and me a lot of time. My time is your money!

Made it through Charley!
Well, we made it through Charley (me and two cats). The storm went just below us here in Englewood in Sarasota County. The "eye" was about 15 miles south of us. We saw winds here around 80 mph. Hope was in New Hampshire during the storm.

Bad Lighting on S.R. 776 in Englewood FL
Having recently moved to Englewood, Florida on June 9th, 2004, I discovered a large orange-like glow in the sky to the East. Was it moon glow off of the oranges? Not! The glow is a result of irresponsible roadway lighting.
The roadway is lit using High Pressure Sodium lighting that is not "cut-off" lighting. The HPS is fine, more lumens per watt, and usually thought of as a little more soothing than the white metal halide. One of the problems is that luminaires that resemble floods are utilized in an attempt to project the light across the six lane divided roadway. The result is a large amount of light that escapes into the clouds and creates the awful nighttime glow.
The other problem with the lighting used is that there is simply too much lighting. The roadway is overly lit. What is the purpose of this lighting anyway? Lighting at intersections would seem appropriate, but lighting the entire length of the roadway doesn't make any sense. What a waste of energy!
This roadway could have been lit for less money, and more appropriately if full cutoff luminaires were used. As a comparison, there is a stretch of roadway on Jacaranda Boulevard in Venice that is lit from both sides with full cutoff luminaires that also have external house side shields as it is in a heavily residential area that has appropriate lighting levels -- and NO SKY GLOW!
Who ever designed the lighting on S.R. 776 in Englewood FL certainly deserves my MUT award (Moment of Unclear Thought). "Ain't got time for thinkin'!"
